Create beautiful invitations

When you have spent so much time creating a stunning event, you want your invitations to set the tone, but your invitations are low quality and unattractive. Just like that, your event has been ruined, after all, guests will judge the event based on the invitation. So, whether your occasion is a wedding, a birthday celebration or a corporate event here are some top invitation design tips.

Colours

The colour of your invitation says a lot about the type of event that you’re throwing. Many events have a colour scheme, so design your invitations around this to ensure that it is in keeping with your theme. If you are a business, inviting gusts to a corporate event, then use your own business colours to reinforce your branding. Bright colours can be eye-catching but keep them to a minimum, too many bright colours and the invitation can begin to look tacky or even like a child’s event.

Size

Invites are usually smaller than flyers or leaflets; they should be designed to easily fit into a pocket or small handbag. An invitation should only include vital information, the Who, What, When and Why; you don’t want your invite to be crammed full of information. Invitations are most commonly A5 or A6 but may also be folded.

Simple

The old saying “Less is More” should be applied to your invitation design. It can be easy to get carried away with different fonts and graphics but too many, and your invitation can become difficult to read and confusing. Keep your design simple; it looks more elegant and professional. Mistakes can ruin your invitation so make sure you proof read your design before sending to print, ask a few people to proof read your invitations too.

Budget

Unfortunately, as with most decisions, a budget is an important factor. It can be tempting to keep adding people to your guest list, but these additions increase your budget. Decide upon a number of guests and stick to it, this way you’ll only print the number of invitations that you need.

Choice of Paper

The type of paper that you choose reflects on the quality of your event. All invitations should be made, at the least with a heavyweight paper but you may opt to up the luxury and use card. There are several finishes that you can consider too, from spot UV to embossing and don’t forget matt or gloss finishes!
