Metro Repro offers a full while you wait document, dissertation and thesis binding service.  Our range includes Perfect Binding, Thermal Tape Banding, Wire Binding, Comb Binding and Saddle Stitch Binding.

Perfect Binding

Perfect binding is a widely used binding method for art books, magazines, books, thesis and reports. With this method, the pages and cover are glued together at the spine with a strong yet flexible adhesive to provide a smooth and stylish finish. Our perfect binding machine uses the latest PUR glue which is the most durable and flexible bookbinding glue available. Unlike traditional perfect binding adhesives, PUR glue is 40-60% stronger and adheres extremely well to pages that have a smooth, glossy finish and it is also nearly impossible to pull a page out of a book bound with PUR adhesive.

This service is available for both your pre-printed documents and our in-house printing service. The maximum dimensions are 40mm for the spine thickness and 340mm for the spine length. Prices start at £15.00 for a single bind with large discounts available for multiple binds.

Thermal Tape Binding

Tape binding uses a thermoplastic adhesive on a strip to bind books with amazing strength. The bound document has the advantage of opening near flat and is also aesthetically pleasing. Tape binding is a good choice for office documents dissertations, theses and review books. The maximum capacity is approx 350 pages and comes with the option of acetate or card front and back covers.  Prices start from £5.10 inc VAT per bind.

Wire Binding

Coated metal wires and are available in black, white & silver, accommodating documents of just a few pages up to a block of print up to approximately 38mm in thickness. Wires can be cut to accommodate smaller documents and in can be joined for binding larger A3 or A2 documents. We keep a range of types of card and acetate covers which provide extra rigidity and durability to the bound document.  Prices start from £4.14 inc VAT per bind.

Comb Binding

Comb binding uses rectangular holes rather than the round holes used in wire binding and allows for binding documents up to 51mm in thickness. Black or white combs are available with a full range of colours to order. Combs can be reused if adding pages into existing documents.  Again we can add clear or frosted acetate covers and also card backs to comb bound documents. Prices start from £4.14 inc VAT per bind.

Saddle Stitching

Saddle stitching is essentially stapling a publication down its spine and folding it in half up to a finished size of A4 portrait.  Depending on paper thickness, we can produce booklets up to 64 printed pages by this process.

Stapling

For documents of up to 150 pages, a staple can be inserted into any corner or double staples can be used.
