Metro Repro provides custom wallpaper and wall covering printing for businesses, designers, venues, educational organisations and private interiors in Newcastle and beyond.
Unlike standard wallpaper, bespoke printed wallpaper can be produced around your own photograph, illustration, pattern or branded artwork and scaled to suit the dimensions of a particular wall. This makes it suitable for everything from branded office interiors and retail displays to large photographic murals and personalised feature walls.
Custom wallpaper printing allows the design to be created around the actual width and height of your wall rather than being restricted to an off-the-shelf pattern or standard decorative roll.
A single large image can be prepared to span an entire wall, while repeating patterns and branded graphics can be arranged across multiple wallpaper drops. The final layout will depend on the wall dimensions, artwork proportions and printable width of the selected material.
A printed wall mural uses one continuous image or design across a large section of wall.
For larger installations, the artwork is divided into individual panels or drops so it can be printed and installed while maintaining the complete composition. Accurate measurements and careful artwork preparation are particularly important to ensure the image aligns correctly across each section.
Printed wall coverings can be used across a wide range of commercial interiors.
Offices and reception areas can incorporate company branding, photography, illustrated timelines or other graphics into the surrounding space. Retailers can create branded backgrounds for displays, product areas and seasonal campaigns, while cafés, restaurants, hotels and visitor venues can use bespoke imagery to create distinctive feature walls.
Custom wall coverings can also be used in universities and educational spaces, exhibitions, galleries and events, as well as for feature walls in homes and private interiors.
Artwork that looks sharp on a computer screen may not necessarily contain enough detail to reproduce well across an entire wall.
For photographs and other raster images, supply the largest original file available wherever possible. Screenshots, social-media downloads and heavily compressed images may lose quality when enlarged significantly.
For logos, lettering and illustrations, vector artwork is generally preferable because it can be scaled without losing sharpness.
Metro Repro can assess the supplied artwork against the intended wall dimensions before production.
The proportions of your artwork may not exactly match the proportions of the wall, so some adjustment may be required.
When supplying the artwork, identify any parts of the image or design that must remain visible. It is also useful to highlight doors, windows, sockets, radiators, furniture and other permanent features that could affect the finished layout.
This allows the design to be positioned around the real space rather than simply enlarged to fit the overall dimensions.
Measure the wall carefully before requesting a quotation. Width and height should be checked at more than one point, as floors, ceilings and corners are not always perfectly level.
Provide the greatest recorded width and height, together with photographs showing the complete wall and surrounding area. Also identify any doors, windows, sockets, switches, radiators, sloping ceilings or irregular corners that may affect the printed design.
Bespoke wallpaper is produced around the dimensions supplied, so accurate measurements are essential.
The most suitable wall-covering material will depend on where it is being installed, how long it needs to remain in place and the condition and use of the space.
A long-term office or retail feature wall may have different requirements from a temporary exhibition graphic or decorative wall covering. Factors such as wall preparation, paste or adhesive type, cleanability, durability and any relevant building requirements should therefore be considered before production.
Start by sending Metro Repro the approximate wall width and height along with photographs showing the complete area.
You can then supply your photograph, illustration, pattern or branded artwork and explain how you would like the finished wall to look.
The team can assess the artwork and confirm the proposed scale, crop, panel arrangement and available wall-covering material before production.
Once the specification and artwork have been approved, the wallpaper can be printed and prepared for the agreed collection, delivery or installation arrangement.
The wall should be clean, dry, smooth and properly prepared before the printed covering is installed.
Loose paint, cracks, dust, moisture and uneven surfaces can affect both adhesion and the finished appearance. Installation requirements will vary according to the material supplied, so the relevant preparation, adhesive, alignment and trimming instructions should be followed rather than treating every product like conventional domestic wallpaper.
Where a design spans several panels, careful positioning of the first drop is particularly important because each following section must align correctly with the overall image or pattern.
Colours displayed on a screen can differ from the final printed result.
If a specific brand colour, photographic tone or interior finish is particularly important, discuss this with Metro Repro before the full wall covering is produced.
A digital proof can help confirm the overall layout and crop, while a printed sample may be useful for larger or colour-sensitive commercial projects.
If a complete printed wall covering is not required, Metro Repro also offers canvas printing for individual photographic and artwork displays.
For temporary promotional graphics, see our poster printing service. Metro Repro also provides sticker and label printing and rigid board and sign printing for other branded interior and display applications.
Whether you are planning a branded office interior, retail feature wall, exhibition mural or personalised decorative space, Metro Repro can help turn your artwork into a made-to-measure printed wall covering.
Send the Newcastle team your wall dimensions, photographs, artwork and required completion date so the project can be assessed and quoted accurately.
